For more than 50 years, Cooper Tires has focused on the design, production, marketing, and sales of tires for passenger cars, light trucks, sport utility vehicles, and commercial trucks. With its main office in Findlay, Ohio, Cooper Tire has 60 production, sales, distribution, technical, and design sites around the world.
Mud-terrain tires increase off-road grip and traction for the majority of SUVs, pickup trucks, and even some crossovers. For wilderness, gravel, or mountain roads with sloping, unstable, or muddy ground, these tires are a popular option. You'll be appreciative of that extra measure of control whether you're traveling off-the-beaten-path or simply choosing the road less traveled.
A studdable tire, the Cooper Evolution M/T is a mud-terrain tire that is designed for use on light trucks to offer increased traction in mud and dirt roads.
Even so, is this mud-terrain tire still the most suitable one for pickup trucks, SUVs, or crossovers? To learn more, let's take a look at the Cooper Evolution M/T tire review.
Features and Benefits
Off-road enthusiasts should make sure their tires are durable enough to handle the various terrains they may encounter. Fortunately, Cooper took these drivers into consideration when designing the Evolution MT, as its sturdy construction adds further robustness to damage from gravel and debris. Let’s learn the features and benefits of these tires.
- Enhanced mud-terrain traction: With massive shoulder scoops and lugs, Earth Diggers technology penetrates deeper into muck, sand, and soil. The staggered tread blocks, siping detail, and intricate upper sidewall design all contribute to the tire's improved traction on slick, loose, and unsteady terrain surfaces. This ensures the tire's forward motion at all times and prevents it from being stuck on certain terrain types.
- Better self-cleaning: Mud Slingers Technology provides increased grip thanks to bigger trenches that regularly clean tire accumulation. Snow and muck are spread out, and they are not able to collect in the spaces between the tread blocks. In deeper muck and loser mud, this maintains the tire's surface contact and enhances forward motion.
- Increased durability: The self-cleaning tread pattern also aids in protecting the casing from harm. Rocks that are on the bottom of the grooves are eliminated by the stone barriers before they may drill into the tread region. As a result, stone retention is successfully avoided, providing a better functioning capability. Tough tire compound actively guards against the tread's chipping, cracking, and ripping, extending the tire's useful life.-
- Reinforced controllability: Off-road handling and durability are improved by the tirepattern and the internally strengthened structure. Without allowing the tire to bend under pressure during performance, the stronger structure maintains the ideal tire shape under the load and driving pressure that affect the model. This combination helps the tire to increase its power and capacity for supporting and transporting loads. Optimal tire shape of the reinforced structure and the close surface contact of the tread design increase the controllability. They substantially improve the driving stability and steering responsiveness, ensuring that the driver maintains complete control of the vehicle while it is operating off-road.
- Enhanced all-season traction: Together with the siping design, the all-season compound and intricate tread pattern, provide dry, wet, and winter weather traction on the terrain surface. The rubber composition maintains flexibility in a variety of climates, including extreme cold, while the tread shape increases the number of biting edges holding the road surface. As a result, the tire provides a safer driving experience throughout the year.
Pros and Cons
Have you finally found the ideal mud-terrain tire? Please consider the pros and cons of these tires before making a decision.
- Aggressive tread pattern and specialized tread compound to offer mud-terrain and other off-road traction.
- Can be pinned with studs for extra traction in winter weather (where permitted).
- Earth Diggers technology penetrates deeper into muck, sand, and soil.
- Mud Slingers Technology offers extra traction.
- Trail Grip Sidewall technology propels "Climbers" down trails.
- Stone barriers keep sharp rocks at bay by discharging stuck stones.
Even with all of these pros and cons, the Cooper Evolution M/T tire might be enhanced in a few areas, such as:
- No mileage warranty.
- High road noise.
- Poor fuel economy.

Excellent mud tire for the price little noisy compared to the higher price tire. Not a huge fan of the 2 ply side walls but so far they have held up
Always loved and trusted Cooper tires! Only owned these Evolution M/T's for July/August months, however very satisfied with noise, handling on both dry and wet services. Will update review for snow (Upstate NY) and off road in upcoming months!
Love these tires look great handle great took two to three days to get after ordering.
When these tires arrived I was really sure that they would make a ton of noise as I drove down the road...it was quite a surprise to find that they don't. Highly recommend this company and these tires.
I only have 2500 miles on these tires so far, but I really can't think of anything bad to say about them. Thay have that mud tire "singing" to them but I like like that. It will be a few more months untill I can speak about their winter handeling.
