The Americus Rugged Tire family is designed to get the job done. Americus Rugged tires are designed with the latest technology and engineering to easily take on some of the most difficult and punishing terrain. They are ready for some distinctly American fun and adventures off the pavement. At the same time, Americus Rugged tires also deliver a nice compromise of road manners, ride quality, low noise, and capable handling on the highway, making them a “best of both worlds” choice for many drivers. Reliable traction and performance, long life, and great daily-driver abilities – that’s what you can count on with the Americus Rugged family of tires.
Americus Rugged A/TR
The A/TR from Rugged is designed to balance off-road performance and civilized, composed on-highway behavior. The Rugged A/TR has an aggressive all-terrain tread with a tread depth of up to 15/32”, with an innovative connected center rib that’s linked to other tread blocks for a stable footprint on the highway. Its shoulder design and a system of variable circumferential and angled grooves give the Rugged A/TR good resistance to hydroplaning as it routes water away from the tire’s contact patch. The tread pitch of the Rugged A/TR is randomized and computer-tuned to negate certain frequencies and overtones, keeping road noise to a minimum. Americus covers the Rugged A/TR with a 55,000-mile limited manufacturer’s tread life warranty.
Americus Rugged M/T
The Rugged M/T from Americus is a tough mud-terrain tire that’s designed to get you through the kind of sticky, sloppy mud, snow, sand or dirt where all-terrain tires might fall short of getting the job done. The Rugged M/T features a beefy mud-terrain tread with tread grooves a full 18.5/32” deep and a self-cleaning design with innovative “thunderbolt” stone ejectors built into the grooves, easily shedding rocks, mud, and other debris to protect the casing and ensure there’s always a clear section of the tire to dig in as the wheel turns. A jointless spiral-wound nylon overlay cap protects against cuts, punctures, and other tread and sidewall damage and enhances highway speed stability.
